Competitors

Competitors are the brands you’re measured against. For every prompt, AnswerScout records not just whether you were recommended, but who else was — so you can see exactly who’s winning the AI recommendation in your category.

Tracked competitors

The competitors you choose are scored on the same prompts you are, run after run. You’ll see their visibility next to yours on the dashboard, and you can tell at a glance when one is pulling ahead.

Your active competitors count against your plan’s pooled competitor limit — see Plans & billing.

Discovered competitors

While reading answers, AnswerScout notices other brands the assistants bring up repeatedly. When a brand you aren’t tracking shows up across several results, AnswerScout flags it as a discovered competitor and suggests you track it.

This is how you catch up-and-coming rivals you didn’t know were eating your AI visibility. Add the ones that matter; ignore the rest.

Competitors come from three places: ones you add, ones AnswerScout suggests during setup, and ones it discovers in your results over time.

Removing a competitor

Removing a competitor deactivates it — it stops being scored going forward, but your past comparisons stay intact. You can re-add it later if you change your mind.

Using the comparison

  • When a competitor overtakes you, check the per-assistant breakdown to see where — it’s often one assistant, not all of them.
  • Look at the prompts they win to understand what buyer questions you’re losing, then strengthen your AI readiness there.
